Size & Scale
Available in 5 widths and lengths from 9 to 10 inches. To picture each width:
- 2.2 mm – 2.2 mm across at the link, light for an anklet - a little thicker than a U.S. nickel, which is 1.95 mm thick.
- 2.3 mm – 2.3 mm across - a light gauge, a little thicker than a U.S. nickel laid flat (1.95 mm).
- 2.9 mm – medium: the links run 2.9 mm across, roughly 2 stacked pennies deep, a penny being 1.52 mm.
- 3.9 mm – medium: the links run 3.9 mm across, about the thickness of 3 pennies together (1.52 mm each).
- 9.5 mm – heavy: the links run 9.5 mm across, about the thickness of 6 pennies together (1.52 mm each).
The usual anklet lengths run 9 in a close fit, 10 in the usual pick, 11 in loose. Most adult ankles measure 8 to 10 inches, so 9 to 10 is the common pick. Wrap a strip of paper round your ankle, mark it and measure it flat, then allow a little ease.
