- 7.3 mm – 7.3 mm across - a heavy gauge, about the thickness of 5 pennies together (1.52 mm each).

To picture it: this piece is very fine: the links run 0.8 mm across, a little thinner than a U.S. dime, which is 1.35 mm thick.
The usual anklet lengths run 9 in a close fit, 10 in the usual pick, 11 in loose. Most adult ankles measure 8 to 10 inches, so 9 to 10 is the common pick. Wrap a strip of paper round your ankle, mark it and measure it flat, then allow a little ease.
