- 0.7 mm – 0.7 mm across - a very fine gauge, thinner than a credit card, which is 0.76 mm. Takes a pendant bail of about 1.1 mm or wider.
- 0.9 mm – 0.9 mm across at the link, very fine for a chain - a little thinner than a U.S. dime, which is 1.35 mm thick. Takes a pendant bail of about 1.3 mm or wider.
- 1.1 mm – a chain of 1.1 mm - fine, and a little thinner than a U.S. dime, which is 1.35 mm thick. Takes a pendant bail of about 1.5 mm or wider.
- 1.3 mm – 1.3 mm across - a fine gauge, about as thick as a U.S. dime laid flat (1.35 mm). Takes a pendant bail of about 1.7 mm or wider.
- 1.45 mm – a fine chain at 1.45 mm across - about as thick as a U.S. penny, which is 1.52 mm thick. Takes a pendant bail of about 1.9 mm or wider.
- 1.6 mm – 1.6 mm across - a fine gauge, about as thick as a U.S. penny, which is 1.52 mm thick. Takes a pendant bail of about 2 mm or wider.
